What We Believe
IV. The Scriptures
We believe the Holy Bible is inspired by God, authoritative, without error in the original writing and is divine instruction for all Christian life. It is God’s revelation of Himself to man. Therefore, we believe all scripture is true and trustworthy.
I.God
There is one and only one living and true God. He is an intelligent, spiritual, and personal Being, the Creator, Redeemer, Preserver, and Ruler of the universe. God is infinite in holiness and all other perfections. God is all powerful and all knowing; and His perfect knowledge extends to all things, past, present, and future, including the future decisions of His free creatures. To Him we owe the highest love, reverence, and obedience. The eternal triune God reveals Himself to us as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, with distinct personal attributes, but without division of nature, essence, or being.
II. Jesus Christ
We believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God, born of the virgin Mary, being fully God, fully man and without sin. In Jesus’s sacrificial substitutionary death on the cross, he made provision for the redemption of man from sin. He was raised from the dead and ascended into heaven. According to His promise, Jesus will return personally and visibly in glory to the earth; the dead will be raised and all will be judged in righteousness.
III. The Holy Spirit
We believe the Holy Spirit is the Third Person of the Trinity, is the Spirit of God and is fully divine. He indwells every believer from the moment of salvation and his presence is the guarantee that God will bring the believer into the fullness of stature of Christ. He seals the believer unto the day of final redemption.
V. Man
Man is the special creation of God, made in His own image. By his free choice man sinned against God and brought sin into the human race. Only the grace of God can bring man into His holy fellowship and enable man to fulfill the specific purposes of God. Christ died for man; therefore, every person of every race possesses full dignity and is worthy of respect and Christian love.
VI. Salvation
We believe salvation is the redemption of the whole person as they are brought into the right relationship with God, fully forgiven and is freely offered to all. We believe salvation is received by grace alone through faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. We believe this faith is the acceptance of Jesus Christ and the commitment of the entire personality to Him.
